In a historic townhouse in Wrocław, Pola Dąbek shaped a minimalist apartment where white surfaces meet the warm grain of oak. From the first step, the floor reads as the project’s ground line — more than a base layer, it’s the material field that settles sightlines and connects zones. Concealed lighting beneath solid timber steps lifts the bedroom onto a quiet platform, while lining the deep window reveals in the same oak creates places to sit that match the floor in tone and texture.

Brought in at concept, we were asked to define the depth of the interior through the ground plane. The choice: Sand — light, natural shade from our collection — in wide 300 × 2400 mm rustic planks, laid longitudinally in a clean Planks pattern. This three-layer engineered oak establishes a calm cadence against the townhouse shell, responding naturally to built-ins and deep niches and guiding movement between living area, workspace, and bedroom.

A brushed surface and natural oil keep glare low and bring the grain forward. The deliberate drying effect — fine, controlled cracks within the rustic selection — adds depth without disturbing clarity. Here, oak doesn’t decorate; it organizes light, thresholds, and touch.

Maintenance remains straightforward: routine care and periodic re-oiling are simple, and the varied rustic structure gracefully disperses traces of use.
