In the heart of Brno, a once-industrial fragment has been transformed into a sanctuary of clarity and quiet power: Yoga Garden & Art Gallery Brno. It is a space where movement meets contemplation, where materiality supports mindfulness. More than just a place, it is an atmosphere — one shaped by light, intention, and design integrity. At its core lies Oakcent’s bespoke wooden flooring, crafted from European oak and laid in a timeless herringbone pattern from our Sand collection.
The conversion of the space was led by RO_AR Szymon Rozwalka Architects, who approached the project as both an intervention and a meditation. Rejecting both faux nostalgia and exotic cliché, they sought to create something radically honest: a natural space with abstract sensibility. It is within this language of material honesty that Oakcent’s flooring was chosen — not to decorate, but to ground. Running from the main gallery into the yoga studio, the herringbone wood floor acts as a quiet conductor between movement and stillness, reflection and form.
A Floor That Stands the Test of Motion
Yoga studios demand more than aesthetic appeal. They require surfaces that can withstand barefoot rituals, sudden shifts in temperature and humidity, and daily high traffic. Oakcent’s engineered oak flooring, featured here in a three-layer construction, is purpose-built for such intensity. It’s a flooring solution that is tactile, warm, and quietly resilient.
The Sand collection’s surface is treated with natural oils, allowing the wood to breathe while enhancing its organic texture. It offers the durability of solid oak floors, with the added stability of engineered wood flooring — making it ideal for floating wooden floor installations and even underfloor heating systems.
