What began as a bold dream of a sacred building in the village of Nesvačilka has transformed over twelve years of patient work into an architectural gem. The Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows is not just a structure; it is a manifestation of perseverance and faith in honest materials. The project, which won the Grand Prix Architects' Main Prize in 2025, proves that even in modern times, it is possible to create a work with a deep atmosphere and lasting value when a bold vision is combined with top-notch engineering and precise craftsmanship.

The architectural concept by Jan Říčný is based on the contrast between raw stone and a delicate wooden structure that rises to a height of 25 meters. This "tower of tears" is made up of thousands of wooden elements that had to fit together with precision. For our production, this realization was a symbol of technological advancement – a moment when five-axis CNC machining became a tool for creating a unique building.

The heart of the chapel is a unique lamella structure that allows natural light to filter through and creates a changing play of shadows in the interior. Each lamella has been processed in our workshops, brushed to enhance the natural texture, and fitted with mortise joints. The result is a lightweight construction that combines static strength with visual fragility.
The precision required for the production of elements for this award-winning building forms the very DNA of the OAKCENT brand. The same attention we devoted to each slat in the chapel is now given to the production of our premium floors. We believe that wood processed with respect for its origin and using the latest technologies brings value and tranquility to the interior.
